DON'T LET YOUR
INVESTMENT DRY OUT.
Give crops the strength to cope with dry conditions.
It’s hot out there and it hasn’t rained in weeks. How do your crops cope? During times of low water supply, the stomata on the leaves close to prevent water loss. This helps to conserve water in the leaves but it also disrupts the water movement throughout the plant. Crops are then unable to absorb water through their roots, limiting the amount of nutrients that can be taken up. This ultimately leads to a lack of nutrition needed for proper growth, causing stress and ultimately reducing yield.
Applying a foliar fertilizer can supply the nutrients needed to mitigate loss and prevent further yield loss. Promoting crop development through timely foliar fertilization gives crops a good foundation for strong growth and development throughout the season.
The potassium and water relationship.
Potassium (K) is a particularly important nutrient when it comes to plant-water relations. It regulates transpirational activity and it controls stomatal opening. Since only the soluble form of K is plant-available, if there is a lack of water, there is also likely a lack of K. This means K acts as both a nutrient and a water regulator.
Foliar applications are an ideal way to tackle drought stress because K moves rapidly from the leaves after application to other parts of the plant. This is key because the lack of water means less nutrients are being absorbed through the soil.
Proper K levels can prevent or delay water from moving out of cells and the loss of turgor pressure or wilting during drought events. Applying K when the crop is under moisture stress not only improves crop tolerance to drought, it can also maintain photosynthetic rate, improve growth and increase yield
KP Plus™ is a fully soluble, foliar fertilizer that utilizes unique ACE™ technology to enhance the abiotic stress-tolerance capabilities of crops. This product combines fully available, essential crop nutrition with a boost in antioxidant production to minimize stress impact and maximize growth and yield.
The ideal fungicide partner.
KP plus is designed to provide yield-boosting synergy with fungicide applications. The application timing for most fungicides for crops like soybeans and corn, often align when the crop requites the most potassium.
50 to 60% of potassium (K) uptake in beans occurs after flower initiation. Foliar-applied phosphorus (P) during flowering and seed/pod set is highly beneficial. During this stage, P availability is usually limited due to the low mobility of P in the soil and by lack of moisture.
